FAQ

Do I need a permit to start driving?
Yes. You may pick up a driver's manual at our location to help you study for your exam at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Is the 5 hour pre-licensing class mandatory before my road test?
Yes, unless you have a Driver's Education Student Certificate of Completion from your school.

How many lessons do I need?
It all depends on how much experience you've had behind the wheel and how quickly you learn.  The Department of Motor Vehicles recommends that you have at least 30 hours of training with at least 10 hours in moderately heavy traffic before taking your road test.  Upon completing your first session your instructor will assess your driving ability and let you know approximately how lessons you need.

Can I bring my own vehicle to the road exam?
Yes, The vehicle must be in good working order, properly registered, insured and inspected.
You are also required to be escorted to the site  by a licensed driver 21 years of age or older.

Can I hire Denzil's driving school to take me to the road exam?
Yes. If you don't have a vehicle in good working order or a licensed driver to escort you to the road exam, give us a ring and we gladly take you to your exam, a licensed driving instructor will accompany you with a safe, dual controlled vehicle. We recommend that you take our simulated road test to see if you can pass it before taking the actual exam.

How long is the road exam?
Approximately 10-12 minutes in duration.

How long does it take to get a road test appointment?
If you are taking the road test in Brooklyn, it can take from 4 to 6 weeks to get a scheduled date.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all forms of the following payments (Cash, All major credit/debit cards & personal checks*must be presented 5 days prior to any lesson or road test*)
